Course Overview

The intensive 5-day City and Guilds training course provides delegates with the knowledge to work with fibre optic cable safely. The course enables delegates to learn basic installation practices through to splicing and fault finding fibre.

The City and Guilds 3667-02 Fibre Optic Cabling Qualification enables delegates to deploy fibre optic cable safely by understanding the theory and practice of installation. The course introduces delegates to the following:

  • Theory of fibre optic transmission, performance issues and current standards
  • Work safety in commercial properties following installation procedures
  • Fibre termination using connectors and splicers
  • Loss Budget Calculations
  • Fault finding and interpreting test results

Objectives

Delegates will be provided with the knowledge on basic installation practices through to fibre optic connectorisation, termination and fault finding. The City & Guilds course aims to instruct data comms cabling installers on design principles using industry standards and working practices.

What are the course requirements?

City & Guilds 3667-02 Fibre Optic Cabling training is a level 2 qualification. A basic knowledge of fibre networking would be beneficial, but not essential.

How do you complete the course?

All candidates are assessed via 2 separate examinations, which comprise of 50 multiple choice questions. City and Guilds 3667-02: 102/103 is a closed book examination and carried out using the computer based City and Guilds Gola System. Candidates will also be assessed on simulated exercises including testing fibre optic cable, interpret test results and fibre optic cable ‘dressing into a closure.’ All candidates are given their results at the end of the examination.
