28 May 2013 - Networks Centre Article in June issue of Inside Networks
As the world economy expands, the role of a distributor will become an increasing important link between manufacturers and installers. Improvements in transport systems and global communications will allow companies to access new and alternative brands.
Distributors will be well positioned to take advantage of this changing environment and provide good quality, competitive prices and faster lead times. However, what is important to you as a customer; availability, flexibility, customer service, product knowledge or price. The answer most probably is a combination of all the above. In nearly every instance, a distributor will beat a manufacturer, by providing what the customer needs not what the manufacturer has to sell. Buying direct from a manufacturer may provide cheaper prices, by cutting out the margins of the distributors, but installers need to evaluate the implications of such a strategy.Distributors allow their customers to focus on maximising their front-line services, improving their economies of scale and securing their position within the market, thereby reducing the threat from the market competition.
Distributors provide a level of flexibility that cannot be matched as efficiently or as cost effectively by a manufacturer. This is achieved by providing a wider range of quality products and brands to choose from. However, as a distributor, our job is not just to provide you with products, but to understand your requirements and tailor the way your account is serviced, to suit the way you do business.
Networks Centre understands that not all customers are the same and will work to meet your requirements, whether you are a home installer or a large company installing state of the art data centres. As part of our service, we provide deliveries to multiple addresses, split shipments and timed deliveries. Manufacturers on the other hand sell in bulk deliveries and have strict lead times that cannot meet the flexibility of your requirements.
Networks Centre believes relationships are a key component for success. Together with our unique service level agreements, an expanded product range, a competitive edge and dedicated account management. Networks Centre supports the customer to win the business.

More about 10GPlus Zone Cable
The third party approved 10GPlus Zone Cable provides high bandwidth performance in horizontal wiring in structured cabling installations, in datacentres and storage area networks (SAN's), and in shorter length backbones.
What is a ‘Zone’ cable?
‘Zone’ cable is a solid wire, small diameter, lightweight foil screened twisted pair shielded cable. The cables are finished in Low Fire Hazard halogen free materials. The Brand-Rex Zone cable is designed to support Class EA application 10GBASE-T. The zone cable provides exceptional performance against both EMI and Alien crosstalk and is therefore an excellent platform on which to build a future proof network.
Where should you install zone cables?
Zone cables have been designed specifically for the challenges in the data centre environment and for installations where space is a premium, light weight is an advantage and where flexibility is required. The main use of these cables is in the local distribution cabling area in the datacentre where pathways often become crowded when using conventional cables, where pathways are congested and may block cooling air routes and where tray work needs re-enforcement to carry the weight of cable installed.
Zone cables can be used in part or all of a cabling channel where the unique advantages of size and weight can be utilised as part of a general structured wiring system.
What are the benefits?
• Space saving - fit 100% more cables into trays and pathways than with equivalent conventional cables
• 30% lighter than conventional AC6 cables - significantly reducing the weight of cables in trays.
• More flexible and easier to install than conventional cables
• Low Smoke and Fume Zero Halogen cable jacket materials as standard
• Superior screening - protects the transmission line from noise from alien crosstalk and EMI
• Designed to support 10GBASE-T applications
• System performance guaranteed to meet Class EA when installed as part of a 10GPlus installation
• Warranty available when installed as a 10GPlus installation

10 October 2011 - KBC Unveils New WESII Wireless Transmission Range
KBC WESII Launches Globally
London, UK 14th September 2011 – KBC Networks, manufacturer of industrial transmission equipment, has introduced its WESII wireless transmission range. The point-to-point and point-to-multipoint wireless Ethernet units are now available globally, offering a flexible and low-cost solution where it’s not possible or cost-effective to install cable.
Supporting a 10/100 Ethernet interface, the KBC WESII units provide wireless connectivity for a range of IP devices such as megapixel or HD cameras, DVRs, encoders & decoders and web servers. IEEE802.11a/n and 802.11h compliance means that the WESII units operate in the license-free 5GHz band; feature MIMO technology to increase system throughput and transmission distance, and comply with DFS and TPC standards (Dynamic Frequency Selection and Transmit Power Control). The units provide up to 100Mbps of usable throughput and employ WPA2 encryption to prevent unauthorised access.
The KBC WESII units are straightforward to set up and configure. They feature a built-in site survey tool to assess local, in-band noise which allows an appropriate transmission frequency to be selected. In addition, an antenna alignment tool gives the ability to check the signal strength at the client and the host end, ensuring that the antennas are positioned to use the optimal signal path.
Built to perform in unconditioned environments, the WESII products have weatherproof casings, wide operating temperature ranges (-40 - +74°C) and passive midspan compliant PoE support. The units come with the option of a number of directional and omni-directional antennas.
Iain Deuchars, President of KBC Networks EMEA commented on the new product range, “The launch of WESII allows us to provide wireless products to our customers throughout the globe. KBC is one of the only manufacturers to deliver transmission solutions – instead of steering customers down a route that suits a particular product range, we’re proud to offer our customers the right transmission technology for their system requirements.”
The units are designed for a range of CCTV, surveillance and industrial control applications in sites including town and city centres, university campuses, industrial and commercial facilities, apartment complexes, government and military sites, borders and perimeters, ports, harbours and transportation corridors such as highways and railways.

06 July 2011 - Brand-Rex are Carbon Neutral
Brand-Rex is proud to confirm that their global organisational and operational activities have achieved Carbon Neutral Status in accordance to PAS2060.
PAS2060 was launched by the British Standards Institute (BSI) in June 2010. The standard, designed by a group of both public and private sector organisations allows the transparency of carbon neutrality claims by providing a common definition and recognised method of achieving carbon neutral status. All organisations should be aware of what impact they have on the environment. Brand-Rex is committed to reducing their carbon footprint year on year. Their target is to reduce their emissions by 20% by 2015.
Brand-Rex sells more cable in the UK than anyone else. The production of this cable inevitably means a lot of electricity is used in their factory – Although they are aware this has a negative impact on the environment, they are reducing their impact on the environment all the time by utilising sustainable energy sources and materials. Networks Centre congratulates Brand-Rex on their achievement and as a partner continues to drive down their own carbon footprint.

Key capabilities include:
- One-button troubleshooting – no lengthy set-up necessary
- Six-second test time – no more blind troubleshooting that can last up to hour
- Locate high loss incidents or breaks – find the most common causes of fiber failure
- Locate reflective incidents – discover causes of bit error rates, a primary source of network performance degradation
- Locate multiple incidents – quickly see potentially problematic connections in the channel
23 May 2011 - More Reasons To Buy Fluke Gold Support
Fluke have recently changed their Gold Support offering to make it even more attractive.
Previously, when returning a unit for calibration, there was no loan unit provided. Calibration generally takes 2 weeks and Fluke will never give a return date so the you the customer can be without a tester for some time with no real indication of when it will be back. This makes it impossible for you to schedule work and therefore ends up costing you Time, Money and possibly Customers. Big problem! Until now!!
With immediate effect, Gold customers can now book a loan unit for when they return their units for calibration. It has to be done at least 6 weeks in advance and is booked through your normal gold support website contact.
